SCONE JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY
The Scone Golf Club Junior Golf Academy has been set up to foster the game of golf amongst school aged children from the Upper Hunter area.
Our program involves weekly coaching from our Golf Members, focusing on areas of technique, on-course play and golfing etiquette, as well as the key ingredient to any sport – fun!
We believe that golf should be enjoyed at all times, and we try to make it fun for all kids no matter their level of expertise. As one parent has commented “I have always liked the encouraging manner in which you have taught golf, and they take it as an enjoyable pastime rather than being too hard on themselves.”
The program is open to all school age children.
OBJECTIVES of the ACADEMY is to :
HOW IT WORKS
Participants are generally broken up into three grades, being Juniors, Cadets and Joeys. Juniors are generally 13 to 18 years old, while Cadets are 9 to 12 years old and Joeys 6 to 8 years old, depending on experience and ability.
Junior membership of the Scone Golf Club is available to Juniors and Cadets. Full membership of the Club comes with the added benefit of being able to play social rounds on the course at non-competition times for no charge and play in all competition events once they have GA handicaps (competition fees payable). To join the Golf Club complete the membership form at Scone RSL Club or speak to Christopher Wilson.
If a participant does not have Clubs, we have a supply of both right handed and left handed clubs they can use during workshops and Academy events. Further details re equipment requirements contact Christopher Wilson.

JUNIORS ON THE MOVE:
Juniors (over 12) are encouraged to play in the Juniors on the Move District Competitions run by the Jack Newton Junior Golf to further improve their golfing skills. Full details of these events are found at https://www.jnjg.com.au/
4th Term 2024
During daylight saving junior workshops will be held each Wednesday afternoon at 3.30/4.00pm through to 5.30pm. The agenda includes skills workshops covering driving, chipping and putting and the play of 2 to 3 holes. There will also be three junior competitions run on Sunday mornings starting at 9.30am to 12.30pm on the following dates:
Contestants will be broken into three grades with juniors playing 9 holes, Cadets playing at least 6 holes and Joeys 3 to 5 holes.
Parents are welcome to accompany their children during these events. There will be prizes awarded at the end of the three rounds for the top three performers in each grade.
COST: Cost per term for Academy membership is $40 per player per term.
